I did it!!! I did it!!!

After spending hours trying to work out Lumapix and download it and watch all videos to show me what to do. I have finally managed to post a page with some photos!!
Still got SO MUCH to learn. I bought some scrapping stuff on digi free and now I dont know where it is or how to get it to the fotofusion to use it, ha, ha. What a trial learning can be, esp when we get it wrong, or make mistakes, or struggle to do what we aspire to do!!!
So this is effort no 1.

Hello Mellorca, goodbye cold Enland!!

My lovely husband decided last minute to wisk us off for a week of sun before the LONG British winter kicks in. (He knows me so well!!) It was that or invest in one of those lights to make your body think there still is sunlight around so you dont feel SAD :-).

This is my favourite photo of Amy-Li on our holiday wearing Taylors new sunglasses. So cute!!!My wonderfully handsome teenage boy, who felt very very cool in his new cowboy hat that he bought and bartered for himself at the market. Huddy, who was intently building a sandcastle till mom came along ans said huddy, "smile" and got this funny little look instead. Doesnt it just say so much?? When am I going to learn to just take the photo and not worry if the kid isnt looking at you? Isnt that "real" photography after all?
I had to nearly lie on the wet sand to take this one, but I was really pleased after about 6 previous attempts and the waves mukking up my beautifully placed foot prints a few times! I finally got my own footprints in the sand photo....

Taylor and Amy-Li enjoying the sea, sun and sand.

Dad and Amy-Li enjoying a stroll on the beach. (This was one of our few warm sunny days as unfortunately we had a few days of massive rain and thunder storms)

Mom and her beautiful treasure at the most northern tip of Melorca. the views were amazing.

The boys highlight was going carting. Mom stayed and watched with Amy and took photos.

They all loved it, although hudson was a bit scared to begin with, Taylor is a spead freak and crashed more times than he should of. Daniel made sure he came first as he LOVEs to win!!

The wind came up on day 4 and Amy put on her new Spanish coat that mom bought her. How adorable is she - and what a great photo with my new Canon Rebel!!!

It has taken me a while to get used to my new camera, because I realised (with a bit of help from Connie the pro - thanks Connie) that I actually have to take all my photos looking through the view finder and not using the LCD screen as I have with all my other digital cameras (which with glasses on can be such a pain!!) Ha, ha, such a novice I am - but determined to learn!!

Am-Li love her Tay-Tay very much. It was so wondy she could hardly open her eyes, hee hee.

We took the kids to a water park one day and the water was FREEZING!! No kidding. I went down one ride with the kids and nearly had a heart attack when I hit the water, so decided to give swimming a miss - which my sons thought was disgusting being a swimming teacher and all - but a seriously HATE cold water!!! The photo shows Hudson crawling accross balance floats, but by the end of the day, he managed to walk accross them and got a clap from the row of spectators as the adults found it impossible!!

The boys enjoying a late night swim, and my new camera doing a FAB job of catching them in the action.

Amy-li enjoying an ice-cream

The back view of the house (palace) we rented. It was much bigger than we thought it would be.
We rented it through villa plus and the kids loved it as the villa has a table tennis table and a pool table and of course the pool - so it kept my three boys very happy.
It was lovely to get away, and horrible to come back to the reality of work and school and stuff to do!! Everyone asks me, do I feel rested after my holiday. Well, who feels rested when you holiday with 5 kids, 6 with Colin!!! ha, ha.!!

China here we come....

Ok, I have had some questions about our trip to China, fancy me just dropping it in there hey? It is actually a HUGE thing for us all. Our first trip back with Amy-Li!!

I took my Eldest, Daniel, with me to china 4 years ago to do some volunteer work with International China Concern, so has been to China. It was na awesome heart-wrenching experience, working in a very deprived SWI, where the kids are desperate for love. I spent three weeks, praying my heart out and crying buckets!!

My other two boys have never been to China and Colin has only been when we went to pick Amy-Li up. I went with Shawn before getting Amy-Li, again to do volunteer work - which was another fantastic experience, so this will be my 4th time.

We fly out on the 11th of Dec and come home on the 2nd of Jan, so we will be there for both christmas and New Years. We would love to meet Liz from Care for Children (Lady who makes those lovely Chinese dollies - see previos post), and go and visit their center in Beijing.

We want to take the boys to see some of the Beijing sights, hoping to visit a primary school when we are there and hopefully set up some links with Hudson's primary school here. Then we are spending a few days at New Day Creations (click on New Day Creation to check it out) where Colin is looking forward to running some dental clinics as well as train the carers in basic dental hygiene. I am hoping to do some training in the Baby Developemental Movement Programme that Shawn and I went out to teach last time we were in China. Then it is Daniel's 14th Birthday on the 20th, so we are planning on going to the Great Wall that day to celebrate, cable car up and toboggan down - yay!! On the 21st we would like to visit Bethel house, which is an awesome training center for the Chinese visually impaired orphans. They are setting up a dental chair and Colin hopes to do some dental work there too.

Then we are catching the overnight sleeper (which my husband is dreading being 6ft3) to Xian to see the Terracotta warriors. Christmas day we are off to the Panda Reserve in Chengdu - what a great way to spend Christmas day hey? We fly to Guilin and then drive to Yangshou, where we will visit a cave and ride bikes through paddy fields and go on a boat trip on the river.

Next we go to visit Amy's SWI and her finding site and then we are back to Beijing for New Years and then we fly home - phew!!

Will update more, next time, now I must go to bed!!
Love Jules

Mei Mei Dolly

I met a lady, Liz, who lives in China and has started making adorable Chinese dollies who speak English and Chinese (Mandarin). She showed me one when she was here and they come in diff clothes and are fantastically made - great hair, which can be cut and styled, combed, braided, etc. Dolly says a variety of English sentences and then repeats them inMandarin, ie. are you thirsy? Are you hugry? I love you! Will you be my friend? Can I have a hug? Will you play with me? Good night.Good morning, my name is Mei Mei. I live in China. and more...

They cost about $50. Check out their web site they do some fantastic work:http://www.careforchildren. com/
To order the dolly, go to: http://www.meimeidoll. org/

I can wait to get Amy-Li one for Christmas. We are off to China in Dec to go and visit Amys SWI and hopefully pop in to Care for children too. Can you all please share any questions you asked the SWI on a firstvisit back, or you would ask if you did go back?? I am so anxious about how Amy-Li is going to react at 3yrs old that I have not even thought about what I need to ask them.

I got my first ever email from the SWI today saying they were looking forward to our visit.
What a mile stone.

Poor Jessy dog

Hey all, I added the followers thingy on my sidebar, so if you read
my blog, please add yourself as a follower!!! I LOVE knowing who reads my blog
and I know not everyone leaves comments when they pop in. So, add yourself as a
follower!!

My lovely cocker Jessy, who is 12 is poorly, she is deaf as can be and is now going blind. She has developed a really bad eye infection and the vet has said it would be kinder to take the eye out as he thinks she has glycoma.

What do you guys think? Is it kind to let an old dog go deaf and blind and limping with arthritis? Or do you take pity and put her out of her misery (boo hoo), or is that like taking life into your own hands? Is doggy euthenasia ok to God? I feel so sad just at the thought that I might have to make this decision one day. She sleeps most of the day and can be quite grumpy cos she is old. But, we love her so so much as she is such a big part of the family. Any experience or suggestions welcome. Dont think Im ready to say goodbye, but dont want her to be in pain either.
Amy-Li's latest favourite is to play with her animals. She particularly loves it if there is a mommy animal and a baby animal. She will play for quite a while with this on her own, which is lovely when I am cooking supper or helping the boys with homework.
God Bless and Love
Jules
